Public Parks

Thornburg Borough includes two public parks. Both are smoke free and alcohol free recreation areas.

Hamilton Road Park

Hamilton Road Park is located at 545 Hamilton Road, adjacent to the historic schoolhouse which now serves as the Thornburg Community Center. The park features a newly renovated playground, basketball hoops, tennis and pickleball courts, a baseball diamond, and a soccer field. The Sam Pace Pavilion provides a covered area for eating and gathering.

Hamilton Road Park is a central gathering place for the community. The annual Memorial Day celebration is held here, as are other Thornburg Community Club sponsored events. Borough residents can reserve the pavilion by submitting the completed application below.

Thornburg Conservation Park

The Thornburg Conservation Park, located just beyond the Thornburg Public Works Building at 25 Rutgers Road, was acquired in 2005 as a portion of the historic Crafton Golf Course through a grass roots effort by Thornburg citizens and the extraordinary devotion and generosity of two of its neighbors. When you visit, you’ll find dedicated to them an engraved Cleveland Sandstone bench that overlooks the Park on what was formerly an elevated tee of the golf course.

The thirty-eight acre Park is a designated conservation area that permits passive recreation including hiking, bird watching, and cross country skiing. Dogs are allowed in the park by permit only and are prohibited on Wednesdays and Sundays. The Dog Permit application form, including rules and regulations governing the presence of dogs in the Conservation Park, can be found below.

Park Permits

Residents and non-residents may bring their dogs to the Conservation Park by permit only. The application can be found here:
